Things don't always work out as we hope and in February 2008 we had to bid farewell to Mark and Rob. Fortunately, when we were conducting the auditions that brought us Mark we also found another drummer that was hard to ...ummmm...(cough)...ReZist and his name was Terry James and when Dennis was with us we had the pleasure of jammin with Cruz Cartagena a few times. Well, all that made this transition a lot easier than the last few hiccups in the ReZist lineup The calls were made and Cruz and Terry were both available. In mid February 2008 we welcomed Terry James and Cruz Cartagena as the newest members and, once again, it looks like we are a band you just can't (yep)...
A whirlwind of gigs from mid February 2008 until June 7, 2008, left us all gasping for breath, but that was nothing compared to the breath taking shock we would receive outside Boxseats after the June 7th show. Cruz announced that due to family commitments he would no longer be able to play with us, and at the same time we discovered that Terry James also would no longer be able to be a part of the ReZist family. It was time once again to search out a new drummer and bass player. The audition process progressed slowly throughout June and July when on July 28th we learned that Misty was also going to have to depart, followed 2 days later by the departure of Dan. We had drummers and bass players lined up to audition and our band was now cut in half. Vito, Dave, Mike and Terry were still committed to the cause and luck was with us, a female vocalist had been in touch with Mike and Vito and an audition was scheduled with her on the night that was to be the last night of drummer auditions. The previous audition on July 29th had brought us bass player Dale Miller who just seemed to gel with the band from the first note. So on August 5th Dale joined us as we auditioned the final 2 drummers and ToniLynne. One of those 2 drummers was Dean Felty who was a surprise right from the first handshake. He was jovial, outgoing, funny and could play. There was energy in the room that night that just felt right. ToniLynne had a voice as smooth as silk, Dean could beat the skins and sing backup too, and Dale was just thumping away. They all blended well and blended well with us having never played together before. So, on August 5, 2008, revised, revamped and renewed we were once again ready to rock and (wait for it) a band you just can't.......that's right.... |
