The band ReZist was established in June of 2006.  It started as a group of musicians that used to work together in a group called “Coastal Raiders” that had been together for over 10 years.  After the split up of “Coastal Raiders” the members briefly went their own ways, Vito formed his own blues group “Subject To Ridicule”, Rob kept doing what he always does, playing music whenever he can.  Tom continued to play with “Flipside” which he had been doing while with “Coastal Raiders”.  Terry took a sabbatical and Dave joined a group called "Riff Raff".  "Riff Raff" decided it wanted to go in a different direction and didn't need a keyboardist, so Dave was out.

Dave missed performing and wanted to form a group that believed in high-energy music, that would entertain the audience, and provide more than just toe tapping songs.  He wanted a group that would provide the dynamics that would make people want to dance.

He picked up the phone and called his old friends from “Costal Raiders”, Rob, Tom, Vito and Terry.  They were just as interested as Dave and so “The Band” was formed, at least the basics.  We still needed a female vocalist that would blend well with Vito on harmonies yet have the style to make her presence felt on the female vocal leads.  We also needed a slammin’ guitarist.  It seemed we had the band laid out when Misty and Mark “passed the auditions”, but luck, fate, mother nature, or the big rocker in the sky was not quite done with us yet.  The night before Mark auditioned, Tom and Vito were jammin’ with Vito’s neighbor when another guitarist, who was new to the area, dropped by and joined in the fun.  Later Vito and Tom let us know about this guy who was supposedly phenomenal.  We set up an audition for Smitty and the band was complete.  We had 2 very strong guitarists, a female vocalist who could wail and the remnants of the “Coastal Raiders” in Dave, Rob, Tom, Vito and Terry.

With only one practice under our belts and no official name, the band had it’s first gig, but the club owner needed a name for the advertising posters.  Misty, Dave and Vito where hashing it over with a number of ideas when the club owner asked and someone blurted out mudslide, thus the band was now officially “Mudslide”.

A few twists and turns over the next few weeks lead to the loss of one of our guitarist, Mark and to discussions of what we really wanted to call ourselves.  After many suggestions, discussions, more suggestion and more discussions, it was put to a vote.  You would think a bunch of musicians would be able to work in harmony, but it had to go to another vote and then another vote and then a show of hands.  I guess it just goes to show with enough practice you can get it right.  So, on October 17, 2006, Misty, Vito, Smitty, Tom, Rob, Dave and Terry were —  "Past Due".

But as you know the story doesn't end there.  The months of November and December were tumultuous.  We knew we still needed another killer guitarist and we still weren't sure of our name.  December 8, 2006 helped out with one of the problems when Mike joined the band.  Another gig later and a few discussions among ourselves and other members of the Jacksonville musical community led us to definitely believe we were "Past Due" for a better name.  A few more discussions and a  command decision on January 9, 2007  led us to a name we just couldn't......
